How It Works
The Data Reader
At the centre of all good guard patrol systems is a rugged vandal resistant data reader. We have three options in our range, a low cost proximity version that reads RFID based checkpoints and two touch based systems with two different sizes of Touch Button readers. All of these readers have die cast metal alloy cases, an inner silicone rubber core to protect against shock and are water and dust proof. Low power technology also means that the internal Lithium battery used to power them typically operates for up to two years or 700,000 reads before they need to be changed. Each reader has a 4 MB flash memory and can store an audit trail of up to 10,000 transactions, where a transaction consists of the ID device’s unique serial number along with a date time stamp detailing the exact time and date it was read. The reader also produces an audible beep and LED flash to confirm a successful read. As well as a leading range of security patrol systems we also offer a range of efficient security guard supplies.
The Identification Device
To accommodate our different readers, we use two types of identification technology. In the case of the Minitool Prox reader, we use a contact-less RFID systems to extract a unique serial number from a microchip that is located inside an ABS plastic Cointag, card or fob. To read a device, the reader is simply placed within 4 or 5 cm of the ID device and the serial number will be read automatically. In the case of the Minitool Palm Touch or Minitool Hand Touch readers, we use a touch based system to extract a unique serial number that is contained on a microchip that is located inside a stainless steel touch button or touch button bolt. Our security guard supplies includes a range of guard patrol systems. To read the ID device you simply touch the touch button with the reader. The Minitool Lite Software
The Minitool Lite software allows a database of the various reader serial numbers and ID Device serial numbers to be created. This is achieved by registering the readers and each of the ID devices via its reader. During this process, the security supervisor or manager can assign a meaningful 20 character description to every serial number, which are then grouped under the headings of readers, checkpoints, personnel and events. The software also acts as a data collection point as it facilitates the transfers and storage of the collected data held within the readers. This data is stored in the software’s internal database for future analysis and reporting purposes.The reporting tool within the Minitool Lite software enables a statistical screen view to be taken of the system activity over a specified period and permits reports to be generated on the stored data filtered by start date/time to end data/time, by personnel or by specific checkpoint.
